lovin’ me some…sunday afternoon.

13 Sep

sunday afternoon. how do i love thee? let me count the ways…

okay. just one: nap time.

there is nothing in the world like a sunday afternoon nap. full from lunch after church, it takes about 3.5 minutes to sink my rear into the depths of my couch, find something interesting (or even better, not interesting) on tv, cuddle up with a blanket and head for dreamland. ahhh.

the only thing about the sunday afternoon nap? what follows is sunday evening. the worst half-day of my entire week, filled with sorrow for the end of the weekend. i wish it could be sunday afternoon all week, and sunday evening never. i wish sunday afternoon could be my bff and hang with me forever. but i suppose like anything, if that were the case, i wouldn’t appreciate it so. and with that…and in need of my sunday afternoon nap…

for me, for today – sunday afternoon is where it’s at.

lovin’ me some…presidential addresses.

8 Sep

can you believe president barack obama has the nerve to address our nation’s youth and encourage them to get an education, work hard and stay in school? the nerve!

now. ending. sarcasm.

i think it’s great that he’s taking time out of his day to address the country’s schoolchildren. reagan, bush, clinton and w. never took time out of their day to address me specifically…or not that i recall. if they had, i’d probably have been too busy sniffing those awesome fruity markers and playing MASH to have noticed, which leads me to believe that while some may truly listen and take something from obama’s speech, many won’t remember it next week, let alone next year or ten years from now. let him do his thing and fuggedaboutit.

you crazy, right-wing, sarah-palin lovin’ nutcases can keep your kids home from school — but don’t fool yourself into thinking that you’re protecting them from anything. in fact, just go ahead and home school them. they’ll be better [weirder] off anyway.

for me, for today – presidential addresses are where it’s at.

lovin’ me some…three-day weekends.

4 Sep

need i say more?

not sure what this has to do with a three-day weekend but it was the first result in my google image search, and because it’s 45 minutes before the start of THIS three-day weekend….IT’S A WINNER!

for me, for today – three-day weekends are where it’s at.

lovin’ me some…google reader

3 Sep

i cannot tell a lie.

i don’t just love google reader today — i.love. it. every.single. day.

what did i do before i was able to consolidate the many blogs i read into one place? i’m not really sure. i think i probably just bookmarked them and tried to remember to visit them every now and then and see if there was anything new.

not anymore, my friend.

google reader is my bff*. it’s like a personal secretary i don’t have to pay or buy flowers for on administrative professionals’ day. it makes my online life much, much easier [because having an online life is difficult? say what?]. and for that, i’m eternally grateful.

for me, for today – google reader is where it’s at.

* make google reader [and my blog] your bff and subscribe to my rss feed.

lovin’ me some…fresh-cut pineapple

2 Sep

i’ve been on a pineapple kick as of late — most likely because weggie’s has been selling them two for $5 [i feel like that is a good deal for pineapple?]. though we have had one of the wettest, coldest summers on record [following what was one of the snowiest winters on record], when fresh-cut pineapple is involved, all is forgotten.

don’t give me dole, or del monte in a can. and definitely don’t cook it.

for me, for today — fresh pineapple is where it’s at.

the new blog

2 Sep

so…i’ve moved to wordpress. i think it was time. i feel a little lost here but i’ll deal.

the old blog had no focus — i think the lack of focus made it difficult for me to write on a consistent basis.

the focus of the new blog is simple. a daily [hopefully] collection of what i’m lovin…hence the name, lovin me some. i also may use this space to blog about my struggles/victories with weight loss, my day-to-day happenings and hopefully, maybe, eventually…some major life events.

i hope you’ll stick around — and i hope i will too.
